More Pictures
April 1st, 2005
I finally posted pictures from my trips to Vegas and Maine last year. The pictures in Vegas are from Paul because I didn’t have my camera. It’s a good thing too because I probably would have lost it playing blackjack.
If you’ve been worried about me because I haven’t posted recently and my global travels seem to have come to a halt, fret not. I will be traveling to Puerto Rico next weekend.
Other news:
As far as I can tell, this isn’t an April Fool’s joke: Ms. Wheelchair stripped of title for standing up
I’m also starting to grow out my stache now for the 2005 competition: World Beard and Moustache Championships

South Side Irish Parade
March 18th, 2005

Sunday was the 27th annual South Side Irish parade. As anticipated, it was fantastic. Every year I have sky high expectations that never seem to disappoint. It’s an outstanding tradition, and I take great pride in the fact that my older siblings were among the 15 or so original “Wee Folks of Washtenaw and Talman” that founded the parade. If I was alive 27 years ago, I too would have been a founder. Oh well, I’ll take my youth.
On Sunday, I developed a concern for the future of our optometry industry. I knew Joe Morfoot could be a little insane at times, but I expected him to be the exception in the field. Not true. He invited a group of aspiring eye doctors to the South Side Parade. I greeted this seemingly respectable group at about noon for a little pre-parade-watching fun. However, as I stood there, one hour, 170 jello shots, one 5 liter bag of zinfandel, 1 liter of Jack Daniels, a full tub of vodka grapes, 1 multibeer/jello shot/salsa cocktail, and countless amounts of other beer and alcohol later, I feared for the future of our world’s vision. Let’s just say if you are ever going to be a patient of Dr. Morfoot, be very careful not to schedule an appointment on the Monday before St. Patrick’s Day.
Pictures from this great event are HERE.

Our Christmas
March 13th, 2005

This was taken on parade day last year at about 8 am. Jess was thrilled.
For anyone that grew up in the Beverly-Morgan Park area, you may agree that this is the best day of the year. If you’re not from our neighborhood, don’t ask or argue. I’ve heard many Orlanders and other places that claim to be “South Side” say that this day is overrated. And to you I say, “Stay home.” This day is for us, not you. You don’t hear me saying Hanukkah is just an excuse for Jews to play with dreidels. So to my fellow true South Siders, let’s enjoy our Christmas. To everyone else, your parade was yesterday.

Green Beer
March 6th, 2005

St. Paddy’s season is in full swing. I love how beer companies have adopted the term “season” for this great time of the year, so our drinking is not restricted to one day, well, actually two counting parade day and the 17th. Actually, our drinking was never restricted to just two days, I know my senior year I attended five full out Paddy’s day parties on five separate days. But still, I guess we’re not as bad of drinkers as we thought we were, because we are no longer the only ones who celebrate St. Paddy’s Day as an entire season. Still, it is kind of sad that we have been celebrating this holiday as a season for years, and beer companies, who stand to profit more money this time of year than any other, have just started catching on that Paddy’s Day can be celebrated as a season.
Friday was “Unofficial” Paddy’s Day at U of I, although there was nothing unofficial about the inordinate amounts of BOOZE I drank! OH YA!!!! (High Fives all around)
College. How I miss thee.

AMSTERDAM!!!
March 3rd, 2005
Wow, what a trip (used in the literal sense) that was. Amsterdam is definitely a crazy city. There’s lots of fun to be had. However, I didn’t get as many pictures as I did on my other trips for several reasons - none of which I can/will go into. I posted them HERE. I was especially amused by some of the signs I found there. Be sure to check those out.
One of the coolest and definitely the most random point in the weekend was running into Dan, my old ECE 110 lab partner from Illinois. He was staying at our hostel, so Hiral and I hung out with him and his friends the last day we were there. Perhaps if you are not familiar with engineers from U of I, you can’t appreciate how truly remarkable this event is. You see, it is unlikely for me to encounter any of my fellow enginerds from my college career due to the typical engineer’s inclination to avoid social interaction at all costs. The typical enginerd would much rather show emotion by typing “:)” in a chat room, than actually smile during a face to face conversation. As you can see, a run-in at some random tavern is pretty much out of a the question. Even a meeting at a homecoming football game would be a rarity. This being said, the chance encounter of two former engineering lab partners in a foreign country (outside of Asia) is nothing short of amazing, especially in a party city such as Amsterdam.
I had a great time. I highly recommend Amsterdam to some of you (you probably know if you fall in this category). And Dan, it was really cool seeing you again and hanging out. Maybe I’ll run into you in another corner of the world some time, or perhaps, even Chicago.

The Kingdom of the Netherlands
February 25th, 2005
I am venturing to another corner of the world in search of cultural awakenings and horizonal broadenings. This weekend, I visit the historic Kingdom of the Netherlands. I look forward to the classic landscapes of windmills, dikes, and blazing flower fields intertwined with the rich tradition of the Dutch people. The tranquil society, of which ostentation is anathema and fuss of any kind is regarded as undignified, will serve as a vast contrast to the frenzied and often turbulent nature of American civilization, which has disturbingly become the acceptable norm.
I will be residing in Amsterdam, the capital city of the Netherlands, of which I am not well educated. Please revisit my website on Tuesday for a review of my excursion.

The Godfather
February 22nd, 2005
a.k.a. me. This Sunday I officially became the Godfather of my nephew Blake Darryl Jarmosco. It’s quite an honor, and I look forward to being a big part of Blake’s life - and he a big part of mine. I put up some pictures from the baptism along with pictures from the weekend of all my adorable nieces and nephews. Members of my immediate family may have snuck in some pictures as well.

NYC
February 18th, 2005
The pictures from my New York trip last summer with Mike Nelson and Joe Morfoot to visit Jake Horvatic are up. As far as crazy drunken weekends go, this was about as good as it gets.
I am also going to do something soon with this lame-ass homepage. Paul, my friend from work, has some good ideas, and may help me/do it for me. Stay tuned. . .
